Job Description: Key Responsibilities/Skills: - We are seeking a Social Development Specialist who will be responsible for compiling and submitting annual monitoring reports covering the execution of work plans, attainment of performance indicators and related information concerning capacity building activities. The activities relate to a capacity building project for a range of non-governmental bodies who are being empowered to make a more effective contribution to the attainment of the Millennium Developmental Goals. The project will run for a 36-month period. However, successful accomplishment in this role may lead to an extension and will certainly lead to other full-time or contract opportunities.

The specialist must have the capacity to work under tight deadlines and be an effective cross cultural communicator with proven ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders including government representatives, donors, NGOs and community based organisations.

The successful candidate must hold a degree in development economics, development studies or related social science fields and must have at least 10 years of professional experience at international level (working in at least two countries).

To be effective in this role, the specialist will ideally have experience in:
1) Monitoring projects and/or implementation of activities including gender based issues.

2) Monitoring and evaluation of large development projects in complex political environments, including at least 5 years of specific working experience in dealing with civil society and non-governmental organisations.

3) Research activities and reporting.

Fluency in English is essential as is the ability to prepare well structured and well written reports.
