Job Description
- To add value to the strategic direction, planning, budgeting and performance of the business in support of the Head of Consumer Banking.
- Provide financial advisory on existing and new CB products, projects and initiatives to ensure they are profitable.
- Review all new projects, products, channels and initiatives to ensure the business complies with taxation, capital, regulatory and statutory accounting requirements.
- Analyse and interpret the business performance and trends and suggesting remedial action.
- Actively review and assist in planning business costs to ensure value for money and a lean cost base.
- Analyse CB Balance sheet and ALCO reports to ensure effective control of the Liquidity and Market Risk.
- Ensure that the CB performance and balance sheet forecasts are robust and adequately tracked.
- Analyse and interpret the operational and competitive trends likely to affect the business operations, including performance gaps and suggested remedial action.
- Ensure the CB's Management Accounting Systems are robust and the MIS reports produced are accurate, relevant and complete.
- Establish processes to ensure the necessary Financial Control disciplines are adhered to within the CB Business and the inherent operational risks have been identified and satisfactorily managed.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1) Business Partner

- Analyse, challenge and provide insights to ensure that the business strategy is robust, competitive and will ultimately enhance shareholder value.
- Regular monitor the competitive positioning and key performance metrics of the CB business to ensure that market share is protected and enhanced.
- Regularly highlight performance and execution gaps from stated strategies and recommend remedial actions.
- Engage the VC GMs to ensure they remain on track both with the strategic and tactical direction of the business.
- Ensure that the CB balance sheet is aligned to deliver performance targets and continuously leveraged to deliver optimum revenues.
- Regular review sub segment, customer and product profitability to ensure they are not diluting value.

2) Reporting

- To ensure that the CB monthly reporting is timely and accurate at both the product and Value centre levels.
- To ensure the cost allocation and Funds transfer pricing methodology is applied consistently and accurately to the CB products and value centres.
- Update Business Heads regularly on performance to enable them make fact based business decisions and explain variances as necessary.

3) Budgeting and Planning

- Co-ordinate the formulation of the Business operating plans/budget and monitor progress towards its achievement, drawing attention to important trends opportunities to maximise earning and minimise risk.
- Review and monitor the business performance against Group policies for Market Risk, Liquidity Management and local regulatory and statutory requirements.

4) Financial Control

- Ensure that the CB business complies with taxation, capital, regulatory and statutory accounting requirements.
- Ensure disciplines and principles from the Group Management Accounting manual and Group Accounting Policy Manual are consistently applied.

5) Project Management

- Ensure the accounting and evaluation of projects which are specific to the CB Value Centres are in accordance with Group and local guidelines and contribute fully to their implementation.
- Ensure that project accounting disciplines and tracking mechanisms ( including benefits tracking )are in place for all CB projects.


6) Operational Risk

- Ensure that CB finance related operational risk and identified, tracked and managed.

7) Others

- Undertake ad hoc projects and assignments as agreed with Line Manager and the Head of CB.

Qualifications & Skills
- B.Sc University degree (2:2 Minimum)
-MBA in Business, or Accounting or Professional Qualification.
- CIMA, CPA, ACCA or its equivalent plus with vast post qualification years experience, a good number of which should be in senior management position with relevant / specific banking experience.
- High level of computer literacy and understanding of business computing environments.
- Knowledge of the Banking practice and Products.
- Strong knowledge in Management Accounting principles.
- Strong analytical skills and an eye for detail.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Team builder.
- In compliance with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Act of 2004, all applicants should ensure that they have completed the mandatory NYSC programme. A discharge certificate will be required as evidence of completion of the programme. Where an exemption has been granted, a certificate of exemption will also be required.
