Position Summary
With its position within the Atlantic Basin and abundance of hydrocarbon reserves, Nigeria gives an excellent opportunity to enhance BG gas chain strategy in Africa. For you , that means the chance to maximise the potential of a major hydrocarbon resource country with vast potential for growth- and play an active role developing Nigeria’s energy sector
In this role, you will work side by side the seismic interpreters providing QI ( rock physics, AVO analytical data) information as prospect maturation progresses.
Key Accountabilities•Contribute to the identification, maturation and proposition of seismic data acquisition and (re-) processing.
•In conjunction with the seismic interpreters, identify, mature and propose economically attractive exploration prospects for drilling through seismic interpretation and mapping of key stratigraphic levels, leading to products such as time maps, velocity maps and depth maps, and generate attribute analysis maps of seismic amplitudes and other key attributes (incl. AVO etc.) derived from seismic data
•Contribute to development of an optimised exploration programme.
•Apply state of the art interpretation software and evaluation technology in the delivery of integrated, predictive subsurface models.
•Work with the asset petrophysicists to come up with workable pore pressure prediction that will be used during drilling operations
•Provide QI “on-the-fly” based on regional rock property &fluid models.
•Work with the geophysicists to develop a credible 3D acquisition seismic program and processing
•Analyse of CSEM, gravity & magnetic data, where available.
•Produce reports outlining the processes, techniques used and conclusions derived from the work
•Write or contribute to evaluation reports, well proposals and well planning where appropriate.
•Ensure all geophysical uncertainties and risks are incorporated into forward exploration and appraisal programs and also incorporated into any estimates of reserves ranges generated by the group.
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attributes•Degree in an Earth science discipline or its equivalent
•Experience in generating well proposals and monitoring and driving exploration well delivery in a variety of geologic settings.
•Proven track recors of workstation based 2D and 3D seismic seismic exploration and appraisal subsurface evaluation.
•Experience in the use of the latest QI softwares for hydrocarbon phase discrimination
•Broad knowledge of other subsurface disciplines and non-seismic techniques
•Knowledge of exploration drilling and/or seismic operations and processing would be desirable
•Broad experience of working globally in different geological settings – clastics, carbonates, passive margins,
•Experience of channelised slope reservoirs would be an advantage.
•Proficient in the use of seismic interpretation systems [Geoframe/IESX)] desirable.
•Must be a self starter with good decision-taking skills with ability to plan and organise workload effectively and a proven ability to work under pressure without sacrificing quality.
•Good team player with a proactive and flexible attitude, and able to work in a multi-cultural environment.
•Good interaction with other subsurface disciplines, and to promote integrated working practices.
•Excellent communication skills, both written and oral with the ability to challenge others in a constructive manner and negotiate with internal peers, partners and 3rd parties to influence decisions or ways of working.
