The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is a non-profit organization based in Africa which works in partnership with national agricultural agencies to increase food production in tropical Africa. IITA seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic team player to join its team in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania as Regional Finance Officer. The job holder will provide oversight and advice to IITA stations in East and Southern Africa i.e Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi, Kenya and Uganda.

The post is based in the IITA office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and reports to the Chief Financial Officer based in the IITA Headquarters in Nigeria.

Responsibilities:

Provide advice and oversight on financial procedures in all the IITA locations in East and Southern Africa.
Assist these IITA locations with streamlining financial administrative policies and procedures
Conduct regular checks and ensure that the Accounts staff in all locations comply with the financial guidelines of the institute
Train accounting personnel and other users on accounting controls and procedures
Analyse financial reports and statements and provide updates to Headquarters.
Assist the CG FO in annual financial audits and review audit materials
Qualification/Experience:

Advanced degree in Accountancy
Proficiency in at least one major enterprise management system (oracle, sun, platinum SAGE, etc.) and relevant computer applications
Minimum of five years experience of working in Accounts section of a large organisation
Experience with an international development organisation would be desirable
Other Requirements:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to travel extensively within East and Southern Africa
Good command of English. Knowledge of French or Portuguese would be an added advantage
